He was awarded Km Chandra Memorial Gold Medal for
standing First class first among the successful candidates in M.Sc Final Zoology examination of University of Allahabad. He completed his D.Phil degree in radiation biology under the supervision of a renowned zoologist and academician, Prof U.S.Srivastava, Former Head of the Zoology Department, University of Allahabad. Prof Kumar has a teaching and research experience of more than 41 years serving in different capacities in the University of Al lahabad. He also served as Director, Administrative Computer Centre, AU. Prof Kumar has
successfully handled research projects sponsored by funding agencies like UGC and DST. He has contributed significantly in the field of entomology and published several research papers in prestigious refereed journals like Elsevier, Springer, Cambridge Journals, Taylor & Francis and NISCAIR. He is a Fellow of Royal Entomological Society of London (UK). He is a life member of several organizations including National Academy of Sciences, India, Indian Society of Developmental Biologists and Association of Advancement of Entomology. He has been associated with the Science Popularization Program of National Academy of Sciences, India.
