Dr. Lekh Ram Verma is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the College of Agriculture and Research Station, Gariaband, Chhattisgarh. He is NET qualified and completed his Ph.D. from IGKV, Raipur (C.G.) as an in-service candidate. He began his professional career as a lecturer in a government school and later served as a Rural Agricultural Extension Officer (RAEO), where he gained valuable field-level experience working directly with farmers. His work involved implementing agricultural technologies, conducting demonstrations on farmers’ fields, and organizing training programs for rural communities. Dr. Verma has extensive experience of around a decade as a Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) at Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), particularly in tribal regions of Chhattisgarh. During this period, he worked closely with tribal farmers and played a key role in promoting community-based farming initiatives for improving tribal livelihoods. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Best KVK Scientist Award (2021) by the Agro Environmental Development Society. In addition to field and extension work, Dr. Verma has published more than 20 research papers in NAAS rated journals, along with several popular articles and book chapters in the field of agriculture. His areas of interest include agricultural extension, livelihood analysis, tribal development and sustainable agriculture. Through his teaching, research and extension activities, he continues to contribute toward strengthening agricultural education and improving the livelihoods of farming communities.
