Dr. Nilesh Bhowmick has completed his B.Sc. (Hort.), M.Sc. (Hort.) in Fruits & Orchard Management and Ph.D. in Horticulture & Post Harvest Technology from Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, and Visva-Bharatai, respectively. He has served in the rank of Assistant Director of Horticulture under the Dept. of Food Processing Industries and Horticulture, Govt. of WB around for two years. After that he had started his career as Assistant Professor and at present he is working as Professor and Head Dept. of Pomology & Post Harvest Technology, Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Pundibari, Cooch Behar, West Bengal. He has 4 edited books, 70 full length papers and15 book chapters in his credit. He is handling a numbers of UG & PG courses, as well as research projects sponsored by ICAR, Department of Science & Technology (Govt. of India), Department of Science & Technology& Biotechnology (Govt. of WB), and RKVY. He has supervised 1 doctoral, 9 master degree students and 4 doctoral, 4 master degree students are working under his supervision at present. He is the Life Members of several national, international professional societies and has given various televisions, radio talks, as well as acted as resource person in HRD training for farmers. Dr. Bhowmick has awarded as Young Scientist of the Year 2017 by the International Foundation for Environment & Ecology, Kolkata, Best Young Scientist Award (2019) by the Society of Tropical Agriculture, New Delhi and got the Best Publication Award (2013) by Society for Advancement of Human and Nature (SADHNA), Dr. Y S Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry, Himachal Pradesh. He has the credit for the several Best Oral and Poster Presentation Awards in different International and National seminars. His area of interest in teaching and research is production technology, crop improvement of fruit crops, minor and underutilized fruits and orchard management.
