Dr. Prahlad Deb was born on 9th January, 1981 in Coochbehar,
West Bengal. He completed his Masters degree in Horticulture
from Uttar Banga Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (UBKV), Pundibari,
Cooch behar, West Bengal. Thereafter, he qualified NET in
Horticulture conducted by ASRB (ICAR) in 2008 as well as
2009. Subsequently, he completed his doctoral degree in Fruit
Science from UBKV in 2010. Since last 12 years, he has been
involved in teaching as Assistant Professor at the Department of Horticulture and Post Harvest Technology, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal. Apart from teaching, he has been actively involved in various research and extension activities. Dr. Deb has handled major research projects funded by BARC, GOI and National Horticulture Board, GOI. Till now five students have been conferred the Ph.D. degree under his supervision. He has published more than 70 research papers in different journals of National and International repute; around 20 book chapters and one book. Beside these, he has also published a considerable number of newspaper articles, technical booklets, practical manuals etc. Dr. Deb has delivered lectures in around 50 National and International seminars and symposiums conducted within India and abroad. He is life member as well as an Executive Committee member of eight professional International societies including ISHS.
