Samir Ebson Topno

Samir Ebson Topno is a horticultural educator and scientist who currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Horticulture at Naini Agricultural Institute, SHUATS. He has made substantial contributions to the field, publishing two books, two book chapters, 160 research articles in Scopus-indexed and NAAS-rated scientific journals, and 25 popular articles. He also reviews for various Scopus-indexed journals, including those published by Elsevier, Taylor and Francis, PeerJ, and the American Journal of Agriculture and Forestry. In addition, he has organized two international conferences—one in the Philippines (IRRI) and another in India—as well as eight training sessions aimed at increasing farmers’ income through the cultivation of high-value crops.
Dr. Topno has delivered expert talks at various educational institutions both nationally and internationally, including in the Philippines and Japan. He has also participated in farmers' fairs organized by the Uttar Pradesh government and has spoken at the Indian Military Cantonment.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Topno has managed four externally funded projects at both national and international levels. He serves as a consultant for the Allahabad Organic Agriculture Cooperative. He received a fellowship for his Ph.D. from the International Rice Research Institute in the Philippines.
His noteworthy contributions have earned him several prestigious awards, including the Indo-Asian Best Teacher Award in Vegetable Science (presented by the IMRF on World Teacher’s Day), the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2nd International Conference organized by the Government of Gujarat, ICAR, BHU, and HARWS, the Scientist of the Year Award, the ICAR Sponsored Conference Award, the Literary Affair Award from IRRI in the Philippines, and the Chancellor’s Scholarship from UPLB in Los Baños, Philippines
