This book by the authors is compiled according to ICAR syllabus and is aimed at making available to under-graduate students all necessary information about the diseases of field and horticultural crops. Plant pathology is becoming an integral part of Agricultural studies as such the need for informative books on the subject matter with recent information on plant diseases occurring in India is becoming a necessity. Excessive load of courses for under-graduate students and variety of topics makes consultation of periodicals for latest information difficult. Keeping in mind such limitations faced by the students and teachers alike, an attempt has been made to give the students a compilation of descriptive accounts of important plant diseases which will cater to the needs of the students. Errors and omissions are bound to be found in this attempt and we are open to corrections, suggestions and improvements which can help to make the book more accurate and complete. Lastly, we wish to express heartfelt gratitude to our past and present pioneers in the field of Plant Pathology whose work has been freely referred to for this book.
