Practical Manual on Principles of Integrated disease Management
Integrated Disease Management (IDM) combines application of different disease management approaches. Knowledge intensive and effective IDM requires expert advice, timely decision making and fast track actions based on ‘mix and match’ technology suitable for localized agricultural environment and pathogen population. It revolves around diagnostics, surveillance, forecasting, dissemination of expert information and suitable training to exercise the available information and training to the available plant disease management tools and technologies relevant to particular host pathogen systems. There is however, need to create more awareness among farmers as well as produce competent field functionaries fully equipped with practical knowledge and able to efficiently transfer IDM practices to the stakeholders.
