ABOUT THE BOOK
In order to increase the production and productivity of vegetables in India, there is an urgent need for development of a suitable literature in the form of a book dealing with recent technologies on various aspects of important Vegetable Crops, which are usually grown as winter or Summer season vegetable crops under Indian conditions. The book entitled, “Production Technology of vegetables and spices” has been compiled by the authors as per the Sixth Deans Committee Recommendation of ICAR, New Delhi.
The authors have tried together to incorporate most of the information available on advanced cultivation practices, varieties released by different ICAR institutes & SAU's along with the other important aspects of vegetable production based on research results.
The unique features of this book are that special attention has been focused on different practical aspects of important vegetable crops cultivated in India in a very simple language and easy to understand style, which definitely fulfill the requirements of Olericulture students. The whole text has been written in bullet form for better understanding of the students.
The major vegetable crops included in this book are Solanaceous vegetables, Cole crops, Bulb crops, Root crops, Cucurbits, Okra, Pod vegetables, leafy vegetables and Perennial vegetables grown in different parts of India.
